Our Wedding Anniversary "Celebration"

This month we celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. We didn't go out to a fancy 5 star restaurant, exchange expensive gifts or spent a weekend at some high class resort hotel. Renaissance Man and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by going out to breakfast and later taking Moe to lunch with us....our usual Saturday morning ritual for almost 10 years.

I felt a bit guilty for not doing something different for our anniversary, especially when I hear friends or family recount how they celebrated their anniversary. Truthfully, I've never made a big deal out of it. This year, I felt I should make more an effort to plan something special for our anniversary.

I asked RM if he wanted to do anything different this year. His response?

"For 18 years, you have conditioned me to make YOUR birthday more important than our anniversary. Why change now?"

He's right. My birthday is definitely more important.

Happy Anniversary RM! We don't need one special day to celebrate our anniversary...we celebrate it every Saturday morning.

I don't think there's any type of law that states you have to make your anniversary a big deal. You celebrate it how you see fit!

Happy anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! I love that you celebrate every Saturday. That is so much better than once a year.

I'm with you ... we don't make a big deal about our anniversary either (though we do use it as an excuse to eat out). But when we hit a big one (like 10 or 25) we might do a special vacation maybe.

Happy Anniversary!

Not many people know how to celebrate their love for each other like you & RM! You have something unique and so why not celebrate that every Saturday? I decided long ago that I wanted to do like you & RM do - breakfast every Saturday. Happy 18th - WOW!!!

That's so sweet! Happy Anniversary!!! (I agree, the best way to celebrate time in a happy marriage is all the time.)

We've never celebrated our anniversaries much either. I guess it's because we just expected to be together forever. But, like you, we do celebrate each birthday. We never know how many of those we'll get!! Congratulations to a great couple!

Happy Anniversary!! I love that you even celebrated with Moe. In my family growing up my parents always made a specific meal and after dinner we'd all dance in the living room to the song they first danced to. It's a big fun family celebration.
