My Picky Eater

Moe is an EXTREMELY picky eater. He doesn't like to drink hot chocolate. He thinks it's strange to drink liquids that are hot. Moe eats his cereal dry and drinks his milk on the side. He claims to love pepperoni pizza, but takes most of the pepperoni off and scrapes off a lot of the cheese. If a chocolate chip cookie doesn't taste right, he takes the chips out of the cookie!

Moe is also the only kid that I know who is actually allergic to....VEGETABLES! And on top of that, he's allergic to most fruits, especially citrusy fruits. I take him to his allergist every year, hoping that he has grown out of his food allergies. He's developed a tolerance for spinach and lettuce, so we MAKE him eat salads for dinner. His salads consists of only lettuce, since he's allergic to tomatoes and doesn't like to eat avocado and probably won't eat anything else that I put in there anyway.

Here is a conversation we were having as we were eating our salads:

RM:"I love having cucumbers in my salad, but I don't like having carrots in them."

ME: "I don't like having anything crunchy in my salad, unless it's nuts.

Moe: "I don't like having SALAD in my SALAD." (as he struggles to eat the last bite)

Whenever a mom complains to me that their child is a picky eater. I tell them no one can beat my kid in the picky eater department!

I had no idea you could actually be allergic to vegetables! I guess he's lucky!

I think your son is the "picky eater" champ! So he has a good reason to say, "Mom, I don't want any vegetables." I always wonder if my picky son will wind up marrying someone with exotic food tastes and try everything. For me, he won't budge a bit. For his bride, watch him eat everything :)

He sounds like me. As an adult I'm so much better, but I have fruit and vegetable allergies too. (But pizza?! LOVE IT! As long as its all meat--no veggies. Duh.) Yeah, have fun with the pickiness, hopefully he'll grow out of it someday! (Thanks for the comment, I'm reading more of you right now!) :)

I think you have won the Picky Eater contest! But, to his credit, it must be hard to have a lot of allergies ... I would be picky too! Though the line "I don't want salad in my salad" is too funny.

Kristina - He is lucky! We can't say if you don't eat your spinach you won't grow!

septmom- it will be very interesting to see if our sons eating habits will change with marriage.

bloggybather- I am so crossing my fingers tha he grows out of the allergies and the picky stage!

jenners- It is hard for him to have alot of allergies, but I get the sneaky suspicion if that he wasn't..he stil wouldn't eat his vegetables!

You WIN! He IS the pickiest eater...well, the allergies aren't his fault!

My kids will eat ANYTHING! ANYTHING! They love vegetables. They love salad. Their weird.

That's why the candy cupboard stays full. No one cares what is in there. ;)

I went to college with a girl who was allergic to veggies.

And she was skinny. Go figure.

He sounds like my dad, who calls salad: 'rabbit food'!

food allergies are the worse! I have two children that are allergic to everything. But, as long as it doesn't give them any visible signs like swollen lips or a rash, I keep giving it to them. NICE huh?? Mother of the year award?? NOT! Sometimes they have a belly ache or a bathroom attack and then we know to cut back on it. But, seriously they were tested at an allergist and life would be MISERABLE! They are game at eating certain things but not PEACHES!!! just think about the movie HITCH!
