Moe and his Grandma

"If nothing is well, call your grandmother."

Italian Proverb
ItalicAs a little boy Moe took that Proverb to heart. Every time he thought we were treating him unfairly he would call up my mom and tell her what we were doing wrong. He memorized my mother's number and called her for every "offense" that we committed. (In Moe's mind our crime was making him eat his vegetables, getting grounded or making him do something horrible like.... taking his vitamins)

It was funny to see this little kid take the phone into his bedroom, call up his grandma and complain about his parents. Yet, every time he finished talking to my mother- he always felt better.

Nowadays, Moe doesn't call my mother as often as he did when he was little. They don't go on train rides anymore, take trips to the zoo or the dinosaur museum; and since we moved a few hours away, they see each other less. However, distance cannot break a bond that can only exist between a grandparent and grandchild - their bond is unbreakable.

At 17 years old, Moe's eyes still light up when he sees his Grandma and she still brings him treats.

"A grandparent is old on the outside but young on the inside".

Love this post! My daughter has such a great relationship with my parents.... I kinda have to laugh sometimes.... Are these the same people who raised me??? They are sooooo patient with her. They are soooo accommodating. I think it is like the quote you have about grandparents being short on criticism and long on love. Parents have to do the un-fun stuff and grandparents get to do the fun stuff. I was fortunate to have the best relationship with my grandmother, or else I might be jealous of my daughters relationship with my mom. Does that make sense? I just mean to say, my daughter and mother have such a fantastic relationship, that if I had not adored my grandmother the same way, I would feel a little jealous.

Anyway, loved this post!

The expression on Moe's face is wonderful as he looks at his grandma. You can easily see how special they are to each other. Lovely post.

Awww! I wish that kids always complained to their grandparents about their parents and no one else! Wouldn't that be nice?! Because Grandparents are still on the parents' side. That is a win-win if there ever were one! I wish my parents lived closer or that my inlaws didn't have 33 grandchildren so that they could be more involved.

That's awesome. I know my mom would get a kick out of my kids calling her to complain about something I did!
I love how much their bond remains even as your son is a teenager. I think grandparents are just so important in a child's life.

That is awesome. I get along with my grandparents but I really really wish I would have been closer to them to do things like that.

i so love this, it made me a bit weepy. I had to fight back tears. I love absolutely love and adore my grandmother. She's still a live and she is strong and takes care of herself and lives on her own, she is 96 and her mind is better than mine. I know not saying much. LOL

I'm just sad that my children do not have the great grandmother influences or feel and both of their grandmothers are alive. Such a sweet post to your mother and to Moe.

This totally and completely warmed my heart. Kaish does the same thing. And he always tells me, you know, when I am FORCING him to do his homework, that he wants to go and live with my Mom : ). His Grandma is so pretty. I see her beauty from her heart just bursting in the picture. Very sweet relationship! I love that!
